Transition Year students of SMGS Blarney enjoying their drawing blitz workshop hosted by Helle Helsner of Crawford Art College on the 18th of April 2018.

Last week,  Third Years took their CSPE trip to Leinster House and Dublin. Following an early start we arrived at Leinster House for 11 am and got a very informative tour of our parliament.

Massive congrats to TY student Kate Lehane who won silver at the Foroige Youth Citizenship Awards for her project 'Battles of the Mind' which uses virtual audio illusions to raise awareness for Mental Health. Minister David Stanton and Mary Lou McDonald were very impressed with it.

Best of luck to our 1st year Girls' Basketball team who are travelling to Loreto Clonmel, Co. Tipperary on next Monday April 23rd. This day out is a play-off for the All-Ireland semi final rounds in their league.

The 12 members of our school 's Young Social Innovators (YSI) team presented their Strictly Come Dancing for Over 60s last Wednesday. After careful planning and organising the event was a huge success, bridging stereotypes between the younger and the older generations of our local community.

1st year Girls Basketballers are Cork Champions! 

An exhilarating semi-final performance last Thursday March 15th, we saw our first years progress to the Cork ‘B’ final.

Well done to Holly Carroll(2nd year) and Emma Bickerdike (5th year) on qualifying and competing in the All Ireland Cross Country in Waterford. Both girls did themselves and the school proud with Holly coming in the top 25 and Emma coming in the top 30 in their respective races. Well done girls!

A farm visit to Moorepark, Fermoy took place on Friday the 9th March ‘18. Here, senior cycle students of Ag Science got the opportunity to experience aspects of farm life as well as exposure to new technologies and research carried out by Teagasc.

Our U16 footballers had a historic win today getting the schools first win in the u16A football grade.
