MAMMA MIA: Everything you need to know!

We recently interviewed music teacher and director of this year’s school musical Ms Lucey about SMGS Blarney’s take on Mamma Mia and all that it entails.

For those unaware of the plot Mamma Mia is a musical written by British playwright Catherine Johnson in 1975. It’s about a woman named Donna played by sixth year student Emma Bickerdike who is preparing for her daughter Sophie's wedding. Meanwhile, Sophie played by third year student Megan Flynn secretly invites three men from her mother’s past in the hope of meeting her real father and having him walk her down the aisle.

Other female cast members include Eve Dorney as Tanya and Abi O'Sullivan as Rosie. As for the male roles Fionn Brickley plays Sam, Anthony Doherty plays Bill, Niall Coleman plays Harry and Mikey Murphy will be playing Sky.

Ms Lucey also stated that anyone interested in being in the chorus can come to the rehearsal on Wednesdays from quarter past one to quarter past three in the Music Room. As well as that, anyone interested in backstage work can contact Ms Duff.

There will be three showings of the musical, the first being on the 5/12/18 with the second on the 6/12/18 and the third and final showing being on the 7/12/18. We hope that everyone will support their fellow (and very talented) students on one of the three nights as it will undoubtedly be a performance not to be missed.
