All Ireland Athletics success for SMGS

Scoil Mhuire gan Smál had great success today at the Irish Life Health All Ireland Schools’ Track and Field Championships in Athlone.

Michelle Ugwah, taking part in the Junior Girls long jump, led from the beginning with a big 1st jump and took gold with a final jump off 5,48m

Bobby Dunfield won a bronze medal in a extremely fast 100m sprint in the minor boys race

Holly Carroll set a new personal best and took a silver medal in the mile only a metre separating her and 1st place.

The minor boys relay team of Colin Dywer, Oscar Ahern, Shane O Sullivan and Bobby Dunfield took 6th place in a very competitive field and were unlucky not to place.

Huge credit to these talented athletes and congratulations from all in Scoil Mhuire gan Smál.

Many thanks too to Mr Long who travelled up to support the students.
