Pieta House Amber Flag 2018

Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal was awarded the Pieta House Amber Flag certificate of completion for 2018 last week at a ceremony in the Oriel House, Ballincollig. The school achieved its first Amber Flag in 2014 and has had a very active committee since promoting positive mental health.

Alison Canavan, the guest speaker at the event, spoke about the super power within all of us...our breath! She did a quick mindfulness exercise with a room full of primary and secondary school children from all over the country along side some business people that were being awarded their first Amber Flag.  She showed us all that no matter where you are or what situation you are in you can always come back to your breath to calm and ground you.

Callum Hayes 5th year and Ms. McCarthy, Guidance Counsellor, accepted the Certificate on behalf of the committee. Other committee members present at the event were Kate Boylan 1st year, Seanan O’Brien and Anna O’Connor, TY & Corrienne Casey, 1st year.
