SMGS Ladies Strike again

On a wet Thursday morning, SMGS Junior girls took on Passage West in Blarney.

From the first whistle, the Blarney girls had complete control of the game with the opening two points being scored by Megan O'Shea and Aoibhin Kiely.  It wasn't long before Alison O'Keeffe rattled the back of the net sending Blarney well in to the lead.

The strong forward line and midfielders worked tirelessly preventing the ball from crossing the half way line ensuring Blarney kept clocking up the scores with a second goal from Sally O'Donovan and points from Aoibhin and Megan who most certainly had their scoring boots on.

Things went from bad to worse for Passage West, as both Ciara O'Riordan and Megan O'Shea both scored tremendous goals    in quick succession with the opposition failing to score yet.

As half time approached, the Blarney girls once again proved their worth by scoring point after point with Niamh Barry, Andrea O' Connell and Laura O'Sullivan all adding their names to the score sheet.

At the half time whistle, Blarney were well on their way to sealing a victory with a score of 4:11- 0:00.

Entering the second half, Blarney once again proved far too strong continuing to put the ball between the posts as Danielle Hendley and Laura O'Sullivan, our dynamic duo in midfield, ensured our forwards were kept busy by preventing the Passage girls from once again breaking past the half way line.

In addition to all of the hard work in our forward line, we also have to give credit to our hard working backs who kept Passage well away from our goals whenever they did attempt to break through.  Fantastic work by Ellie Walsh and Megan O'Connor in the half back line prevented very little ball breaking through.

As the Passage girls were relieved to hear the final whistle, SMGS we're thrilled to have 12 of the total 18 players on the scoresheet including our goalkeeper Amy Bannon and two of our full backs, Orla Cronin and Megan O'Farrell.

There really is no stopping this fantastic bunch of girls who are determined to get their hands on a cup this year. Best of luck in the rest of the competition.
