Blarney Historical Society

The next meeting of the Blarney Historical Society will take place in Scoil Mhuire gan Smál on Thursday 4th May 2023 @ 8pm.

The Illustrated Lecture is titled: ‘By a Treaty Divided – Civil War in Cork’.

Guest Speaker is Gerry White

Mr. Gerry White, Historian and Author, has done intensive research and written many publications on the War of Independence and the Civil War. Gerry explains the reasons why The Treaty caused such division and hatred among the people who had fought together previously leading to the Civil War. It ended in May 1923. Gerry discusses how its effects still linger nationally and locally after 100 years.
